Terms and Conditions of Hire

 

  1. Insurance

 

The hirer shall be responsible for and must insure the trailer for it’s full market value along with all third party liabilities for the duration of the hire term.

 

The hirer’s insurance provider must provide directly to Agroco Trailers a copy of the insurance cover note before the trailer is released to the hirer.

 

  1. Care, use and custody of the trailer

 

The hirer shall tow the trailer only while qualified to drive a motor vehicle and whilst holding all necessary licences and permits and shall at all times drive the said vehicle in a careful and skilful manner and in accordance with all legal requirements and highway regulations.

 

The hirer shall not take the vehicle outside the UK mainland without the written consent of Agroco Trailers.

 

  1. Accidents

 

The hirer shall report any accidents or damage involving the trailer to Agroco Trailers as soon as possible but within eight hours of the occurrence of the accident and also to the police or other proper authority within the time prescribed by the law.

 

The hirer shall supply such information, drawings and assistance in connection with the accident as Agroco Trailers or the hirer’s insurer may require. The hirer shall not without prior consent of Agroco Trailers give instruction for any repairs to the trailer or for the replacement of any parts.

 

  1. Exclusions of Liability

 

The owner of Agroco Trailers shall not under any circumstances be liable to make any payments to the hirer in respect of or to indemnify to the hirer against any loss, injury or damage sustained by the hirer or by any third party as a result of the presence or use of the trailer or as a result of any defect therein and in taking delivery of the vehicle the hirer shall be deemed to have satisfied him or herself that it is in all respects roadworthy and in a proper and safe condition.

 

  1. General Conditions

 

In this agreement “ the trailer” includes all replacements and renewals of all additions and accessories there to whether made before or after the date of this agreement. No relaxation forbearance or indulgence by the owners ( Agroco Trailers ) in enforcing any of the terms and conditions of this agreement shall prejudice or affect the rights and powers of the owner ( Agroco Trailers ) hereunder nor shall any waiver of any subsequent or continuing breech. At any time during during a hire period Agroco Trailers reserves the right to terminate a hire agreement. During the hire period Agroco Trailers will repair or service the trailer free of any charges should the trailer require repair or service through normal wear providing the hirer returns the trailer during a continuing hire period by agreement.

 

  1. Departing Trailer Checklist.

 

 

 

      A.    Verify that the trailer is adequate for the proposed use

  1.  Check that the trailer is compatible with the towing vehicle.
  2.  Check and explain the engagement of the coupling to the towing vehicle, correct stowage of the jockey wheel and correct use of the hand brake.
  3. Check and explain the use and fitment of the breakaway cable.
  4. Check and explain the connection of the electrical connection and make sure all lights are working correctly.
  5. Check and fit the number plate in the correct position.
  6. Advise the hirer on the best loading practise.
  7. The hirer must be advised not to overload the trailer at any time.

7.    Returning Trailer Checklist.

 

  1. The trailer must be returned to Agroco Trailers in the same clean condition as was supplied to the hirer.
  2. Any damage or breakage will be charged to the hirer on return of the trailer, any deposits will not be reimbursed until payment for breakage or damage is paid for in full.
  3. The trailer must be returned to Agroco Trailers by 9.00 am on the return day unless previously arranged or agreed.
  4. It is essential that the trailer be returned to Agroco Trailers not later than the end of the period of hire. A charge of one quarter of one days hire will be charged per every hour for late return of the trailer.
  5. On return of the trailer the hire agreement will be signed off hire and once payments are made in full any deposits will be refunded.
  6. On return the trailer will be inspected by Agroco Trailers and reasonable time must be allowed for this process.

 

 

    1. Charges Payments Deposits and Hirer Requirements

 

  1. A deposit of £250.00 paid in cash, debit or credit card is required before the trailer is taken by the hirer.
  2. The full hire for the agreed period will be paid for in advance of the hire.
  3. The hirer must have a valid driving licence, a copy of which will be taken by Agroco Trailers.
  4. An official letter or utility bill confirming the address of the hirer is required by Agroco Trailers and a copy will be taken.
  5. Special payment can be made for long hire periods. This would be weekly stage payments.
  6. A normal hire period of 1 day will be 24 hours or less. A week-end hire will be 4 pm Friday or Saturday morning to Monday 9 am. A weekly hire will be 7 days.
  7. A cleaning charge will be made for trailers returned in an unclean condition £15.00 minimum or £30 minimum for horse trailers.
  8. An additional charge of 2% will be levied on payments made by credit cards excluding deposit payments
